PS4 Controller to PC: A Full Guide for Easy Connection

Did you know that you can use your PS4 controller to play games on your PC? We will go over a couple of ways you can connect a PS4 controller to your PC on this page. With these methods, you can use an original PS4 controller or a non-original one, with or without a wire.
1. Using the charging cable
With the charging cable that comes with a wireless PS4 controller, you can easily connect your controller to your PC. Because the charging cable features a USB connector, all you have to do is connect the USB port of the charging cable to a port on your PC, plug in your controller, and the PC will handle the rest. The procedure is the same when using a wired controller.
KEEP IN MIND that some third-party wires cannot be detected by the PC since they are only used to power the controller and not to send data.
2. Using Bluetooth

Another simple and quick way to connect your PS4 controller to your PC is via Bluetooth. To begin, simply hold down the SHARE button on the controller and the Playstation button at the same time. The controller is ready to pair when its LED flashes white.
Turn on Bluetooth on your PC and go to the Add Bluetooth Devices option. Select the controller from the list of Bluetooth devices on your PC. The controller’s light bar should flicker on and off, and you can then use it.
3. Using Steam
There is also a way to connect your PS4 controller via Steam and do stuff like use the “Big Picture” or modify the controller inputs. To begin connecting the controller, go into Steam and select settings from the “Steam” menu in the top left corner. Navigate to “Controller,” then select the “General Controller Settings” option. There will be several boxes, and you should select “PlayStation Configuration Support” to complete the connection. Now that the controller is connected, hitting the PS button will launch the Big Picture.
4. Using DS4Windows (wireless)
If your Windows PC is unable to locate or connect your PS4 controller, or if you are using a replica off-brand controller, you can download DS4Windows, a free utility that connects your controllers to your PC without any difficulties. You must first download all of the necessary files and versions from the DS4Windows official website and then unzip the files. When you open the Winrar files, you’ll see a bright logo with the DS4Windows name on it. When you press it, a popup will appear with two alternatives.
After selecting the program folder, DS4Windows will launch. If this is your first time, a guide will instruct you what to do after opening DS4Windows, which will require you to download more items. When you connect your controller, DS4Windows will recognize it and you may use it by pressing the start button.
