Many computer users have heard of the term FPS. In spite of the fact that gamers are generally the ones who use this phrase, it still has an impact on image quality. Frames Per Second (FPS) is a measurement of how many frames can be displayed on the monitor in a second.

When playing video games or watching movies or television shows, the frame rate is a vital factor to take into account because both require high frame rates to look fluid and provide a pleasant viewing experience. This specification is determined by a number of elements, including your computer’s processor, GPU, and other components. It can also depend on how well you care for your Windows laptop or computer because neglecting them might cause them to degrade and lower your FPS.

1. Turn off background apps

The simplest approach to do this is to either stop certain apps from running in the background or to turn off programs you do not use. You can view which applications and processes are active as well as how much power they use by using Task Management.

To find out which program is using the most memory and power, type “Task Manager” into the Windows search box and then click Processor. The Task Manager displays running programs in a sorted list, including your browser, games, and other apps. It also displays background processes, many of which should not be terminated if you don’t understand what they are doing because they are essential to Windows’ functionality and don’t use much power.

2. Reduce the resolution of your screen

Lowering the resolution of your screen monitor is one way to improve FPS. In most cases, you wouldn’t do this as most monitors and computers automatically use the best screen resolution for your screen, PC, and performance.

Reduced resolution aids in accelerating your frame rate, which is why you should do it if FPS is more important than resolution. It works by displaying more pixels per inch as your screen resolution increases, which puts more strain on your graphics card. Because more information will be output, the displayed graphics will appear more detailed but the FPS will be decreased. If you’re a competitive gamer and prefer quick responses to stunning images, choose this option.

Use the Windows search function and type “Resolution” to find the screen resolution option. You may also reach this setting by going into the Windows “Settings” app and pressing the option “System” and then “Display”. There will then be a “Display Resolution” option you’ll need to click and drag down to see all of the other possibilities to choose from. The lower the resolution rate, the more likely you are to improve your FPS.

3. Update your GPU driver

Since graphic card drivers are a crucial component of a computer, graphics-related issues can have a negative impact on your PC’s speed and display in addition to the number of frames per second being displayed.

You must be aware of what manufacturer your graphics driver is from in order to upgrade it. This is due to the fact that every company updates their drivers in a different way, with some requiring you to download tools to do it for you while others do not. As an example, if you have an NVIDIA Geforce graphics card, you will need to download the app or you will be given the option to install the NVIDIA Update once your driver has been installed.

4. Clean your storage

You may have noticed your Computer running a little slower than usual which is an annoying issue that can be caused by full memory storage. Full storage affects PC performance as well as FPS indirectly because the machine starts concentrating on other activities and produces fewer frames than usual. Because of this, you should think twice before storing too many games and data on your hard drive. Instead, leave at least 20% of your storage space free. //

Go to Windows “Settings,” and you should see the option “Storage” a little way down the screen. This will allow you to view how much storage space you have left on one of your disks and decide whether you want to delete some programs and apps. For instance, you may access installed programs, check how much space they are using, and uninstall them by hitting the three dots on the right side.

5. Get better hardware

As a last rort, the only thing you can and should do is upgrade to better components or a newer computer. As technology evolves, so does the need for operating games and programs. If you have good hardware (CPU, storage, etc.) but not a good graphics processor, all you need to do is buy a newer one and install it. This is usually the most common issue because most people are aware of how expensive graphics processors are and choose lesser models, which reduces the overall worth of the PC.
